Building a Healthy Relationship
As we all know, humans and dogs get along well. It is said that dogs are man’s best friend. Dogs are usually the closest pet to us because dogs are more well socialize compared to other animals. However, it is best to keep in mind that dog and puppy is not a human. There is a big difference between our needs and their needs. There is also a difference on how they try to communicate with us. With the right information and knowledge, it is possible to build a strong, healthy and happy relationship with your Red Heeler pet.
Dogs do not think like humans do. There is a great need to be trained to be able to follow orders from human. Red Heelers if not trained well will try to rule your life. This is natural to their herding breed. But of course, we all know that it must not be that way. As human, we are the boss or the “alpha”, but we need to make our dogs know about it. The best way to do this is to train your puppy as earlier as possible. Make your red heeler puppy know that he can trust you and there’s no need to use his herding abilities to you.
It is not necessary to beat your dog to make it follow. You just have to hold your position to make your puppy understand that you must take the lead. Trying to control everything and being first in things that you will do together like foods and their activities will help them understand that you are higher in rank and he should follow. Giving treats and punishment will teach him to follow your commands.
>You should talk to your puppy and give him treats as an incentive for listening. Stroke him gently or give tummy rub when your dog cooperates. With continuous exercises, your puppy will get the clear signal and will trust your judgment. This will create a good relationship with your dog.
